"Verified Off-Topic" Changes

Post by Phuzzy4242 »   0 likes

You may remember the original purpose of Verified Off-Topic was as a place for films that weren't on-topic but that might have a scene of interest, or maybe a warning of a terrible film that might have been OT but turned out it wasn't. We didn't want to just send that film to the Graveyard because that essentially killed it - no more discussion allowed since people can't post there.

Originally, users couldn't create new topics in VOT - the admins had to move a film there from other forums. We changed that and allowed new topics to be created, but a situation arose that made us rethink that policy and we decided the best solution that inconvenienced the fewest people was to go back to how it was before.

You can still reply to topics already in VOT, and you can recommend that topics get moved there, you just can't create a new topic. If you want to post something like emuler's warning about "Krampus", let an admin know and we'll create the topic, then you can add the details.

Perhaps you could put up a main or index thread there, and we just keep adding names with a line or two explaining why, and maybe a picture of the 'hoped for' FLM interest. We don't want to list all the films that aren't FLM material at all - just those that were expected to be FLM material, but turned out otherwise. Something along the lines of your 'most wanted' threads.

I'm open to people's suggestions. We'll have to see how things work out. That forum usually doesn't have much activity. We're just trying to keep things running smoothly with the least problems.

This is my opinion...

The VOT section must be used only for... If anyone has d/l...found or view material that mind be real VOT must put in VOT but only material with kids that have minor role or interesting scenes but not have principal role...this includes only movie, documentaries and at leasts shorts. No other kind of stuff.

So the rules to post in this section must be

- off topic movie/doc/short but with interesting scenes
- presence of kids actors/actress but not properly kids movies

(for example an erotic movie when the actress remember her childhood with flashbacks) this is only an example but is the idea for....

All others kind of stuffs must be posted in general thread waiting opinion for its.

How do you think about it?

The way you describe it is pretty much what it was set up for - a place to put films that are off-topic but have a scene that might be interesting. When someone goes to all the trouble to find a film but it turns out not to have enough in it to be on-topic, it'd be a shame to waste all that work and someone might be interested in just that scene. By the same token, we appreciate being warned when a film sounds like it's on-topic but definitely isn't. VOT isn't an open forum for "anything goes". We have to draw the line somewhere.

So i think the only rules must be

- off topic movie/doc/short but with interesting scene/scenes

This not includes youtube or amatorial videos...

When the admins originally discussed allowing people to create new topics in VOT I advocated for it, but circumstances proved me wrong and we had to change it back to how it was. I think we're better off right now not making any more changes until we see they're really needed.
