An old classic starring 12-year-old Shirley Mills. Probably the best DVD release out there, in terms of picture quality. The video wasn't processed with noise reduction filters therefore no loss of detail from the original print.

Here are direct links for those who prefer that method or can't use eMule for whatever reason. All I ask is that if you're able to use eMule, please unrar to your shared folder and seed this for a while. Every source helps. You can still burn an .iso file to disc while it's being shared. It won't interfere with the recording process.

This is one I didn't think there'd be an upgrade. Thanks, deadman.

Thanks! I'm particularly curious how the sound quality will be.

I don't think there's much difference in sound or picture quality in this .iso. Unless someone finds the original cellulose and makes a new master, there won't ever be a better version than we have.

I've downloaded a bunch of different DVD versions. This one is my favorite. It seems to be the only one they didn't put through noise reduction - which cuts down some of the graininess, but achieves that by smoothing the image so detail is lost. If you compare any still frame from this disc with the same frame on another you'll see what I mean. But yeah, when all is said and done it's an incremental improvement.

It would be great if someone gave us a bluray remaster. Or at least a digitally restored DVD. Unfortunately, I don't think the original source material exists anymore. As far as I can tell every DVD was mastered from the same print. Probably the best by far of the surviving copies. Unless someone collects multiple prints and decides to do a full digital restoration as a labor of love - not enough money to be made for a studio to pay someone - we'll probably never see a better version.

I made a new rip on the source of this NTSC DVD.

For my taste the picture was to noisy... So I used the neat video filter in After Effects (forgive me deadman ;) ). Also I did a conversion to PAL (25 fps).

Maybe someone can need this:

That looks considerably less grainy but seems to keep as much sharpness as the original. Thanks, ghost.

You did WHAT?!!! There can be only one punishment for your crime ... 8-)

Hey, it's all a matter of personal preference. Less noisy images tend to look like better images to the human eye and some people find the graininess more bothersome than others.

Yes, it depends on the personal taste....
Hmmm these so called details are mostly scratches and noise from this very old movie... personally I would prefer a mixture between both of them :ugeek:
