Thanks BLT.......d/loading nicely & previews well. Looks like it will be a great upgrade! :)
Now about those subs..........they're English alright but don't appear to make a great deal of sense. I'm tempted to beg emuler to have a go & produce a thing of beauty (& sense) for us. :pray
Price you pay I suppose for having arguably, the best command of the English language around here. ;)

Note that my DVD is a Norwegian release, which does not include any subs at all. Wondering about the message above, which says that Swedish release has English subs :think

The English subs look like a Google translation or something similar. Sometimes it didn't make alot of sense, but I still got the gist. I believe some concepts just don't translate well unless you're very skilled in both languages, and even then much of it is a reflection of the interpreter (like the supposed 50 different names the Eskimos have for snow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eskimo_words_for_snow). When it's a computer translation, we don't even get the "human touch" so we just have to take what we can get. :)

Yes, as the poster wrote:
jkecal wrote:English subtitles (created by computer translation of subs above, corrected, but with minor mistakes).
However, I was referring to this message:
Anonymous wrote:Hi,

Yes it will include subtitles in English.

Thanks for the motivational boost, LB. :blush I'll have a go after I get the movie. At least the subs are there in some form - I'm a little daunted by the prospect of making subs from scratch (case in point - Masoom). :bigups

Even 16/9 function doesn't look better. :snooty

I use MPC. Media Player Classic. Get it by installing the latest version of kLite Codec Pack. :thumbsup

If the aspect ratio is still incorrect, right click the video window, then on the menu 'video frame' select 'touch window from inside'.

You can also try looking for a similar setting on whichever player you are using.

I wanted to give you the best quality, so this rip is *unscaled*!

The aspect ratio is written in the avi file, the player is supposed to scale it automatically.

When I open it in my player, it says the following:
Movie-Aspect is 2.32:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.
VO: [xv] 704x432 => 1002x432 Planar YV12
If the video is not scaled automatically, maybe you can enter the aspect ratio 2.32:1 manually?

This certainly displays correctly in MPC
Video size: 704 x 432 (AR 1001:432)
Thanks BLT! :)
