I have only posted once before (to give thanks and mention trouble with emule). This is essentially about the same two matters, and about a request...

There are some stunningly lovely mainstream films here. Dschungelkind, for instance, is one of the most absorbing original films I have ever seen. I have discovered belatedly that the best stuff seldom comes from Hollywood, and that it is well worth getting much better foreign films with subtitles. Thank you for making so much great stuff available.

As for emule, I have had to give up because my combination of computer, router and VPN seem to make it impossible. Fortunately -- largely to the credit of the amazing deadman -- I have been able to download many of his zippyshare and mega.nz offerings.

Now for my request... could some kind soul (dead or otherwise) upload Mein erstes Wunder to one of those sites? I'm sure many emule-failures would be as grateful as I would be. Thank you.

Another resource you might want to check is uloz.to or https://ulozto.net. Many FLM films can be found there.

Thanks for the tip, Phuzzy, but no luck anywhere. I've noticed that once deadman has made his offerings, most threads join him in death because nothing more is needed. Perhaps he'll make another ghostly appearance here and deny an ignorant newcomer the right to have the last word...

So esteemed mister deadman, I hope you're around
To consider the cheeky appeal I expound,
Though I realise full well
You might wail, "Go to hell!"
And suggest that it's ME who should be undergound.

Seriously?? :think

Could we have a poet laureate here at FLM?.. 8-)

It would seem, I would guess
Rather than make a mere 'Request'
dvorak seeks a different route
In hopes his query will stand out.
By making his request in rhyme
In hopes that deadman, after awhile
Will post the desired links in time.
I'll have to admit; it made me smile.

kev.

I have the disc lacking subs
And a soundtrack with no dubs
If you can wait
The subs I'll create
Or post it as-is in our clubs.
8-)

It might take a few weeks for me to make subtitles for this disc, depending on how busy I am with other things. Or I could put the DVD up without them in the next few days. Which do you prefer?

As I have no files to share, I'm glad I at least managed to share smiles instead. I'm also pleased to have brought out the poets in two fabled board members. Well, done, sirs! A little more practice, and one of you could be the next poet laureate.

You are a prince, deadman. The DVD without subs would be great. It's not that difficult to get the gist of Germanic languages.

Is that the consensus? Are you sure?

I started trying to translate this disc, and discovered it's harder than one might expect. I did the movie Gudrun in less than a week for example (which was also in German). The girl's vivid imagination makes interpreting her meaning difficult at times. And the subs on the disc are often noticeably out of sync with the dialogue - unfortunately not by a fixed delay or a linear variation you can remove with software, it's off by random amounts. So you have to create the timecodes manually. This might take closer to a month than a week. But it won't be any easier for you than for me - unless you speak German. Does anyone else want to take this on? I can PM you what I've done so far, if that helps.

The only languages I know well enough to translate have never been used in any film on this site as far as I know, so I regret to say that I cannot be of any help. Whatever you or anyone else comes up with -- subs or no subs -- will be appreciated. So, yes, I am sure -- and still say that I can usually get at least the gist of Germanic languages such as Dutch and German itself, aided of course by context. Translating is another matter entirely, though, and I fully understand why you say it would take a lot of hard work. Thank you for considering it, deadman, but I think you have done more than enough on this site already without bothering about this tricky sub-writing project.

Okay then.

What languages do you speak? Just curious, there's another movie I was trying to create subs for and I know a lot of my translations are crude (or wrong). German films are generally much easier because online translators get it close enough for you to manually refine the results and be confident you got it right. Not so with every language.

This story of a close bond between a middle aged man and a young girl stars the very cute 11-year-old Henriette Confurius. The disc has no English subs but due to popular demand I've released it without them. Enjoy!

Here are direct links for those who prefer that method or can't use eMule for whatever reason. All I ask is that if you're able to use eMule, please unrar to your shared folder and seed this for a while. Every source helps. You can still burn an .iso file to disc while it's being shared. It won't interfere with the recording process.
