[REL] Dreiviertelmond (2011)
The life of 65-year-old Hartmut Mackowiak (Elmar Wepper) has come apart at the seams: His wife Christa (Katja Rupé) has left him after 30 years of marriage, and that too for another man. After this shock, the Nuremberg cab driver -- by nature a grumpy man who prefers to have his peace and quiet -- entrenches himself even more behind an armor of preconceived notions and distrust of everything foreign and new. He is quite successful at hiding from life.
When one day a young Turkish woman (Ivan Anderson) gets into his cab with her daughter, he has no idea that 6-year-old Hayat (Mercan-Fatima Türköglu) will turn his whole life upside down. On the contrary, he first argues with Hayat's mother, who ends up angrily berating him. A short time later, Hayat crosses his path again, but now apparently all alone and helpless in a strange city. Hartmut reluctantly decides to help the stubborn little girl, who doesn't speak a word of German.
But little by little he realizes that maybe it is she who is helping him...
