Another Astrid Lindgren's story.
The language of the movie is Swedish.
I didn't find movie review in English but I think
the book review taken from here applies for the movie as well.
Brenda Brave

Since no-one else wanted to look after Brenda when she was little,
her grandmother took her in. It was grandma who decided that Brenda
should be called Brenda Brave, since she realised at once that Brenda
would become a spirited little lass. It seemed best to give her
a suitable name right from the start.
Brenda is very helpful and capable. She helps her grandma with all the chores.
For example, there was the time when grandma hurt her leg and Brenda went out
and bought her own Christmas presents. "Dearest little child, how would
I ever manage without you?", grandma often says.
Brenda lives with her grandma in a pleasant little house on a sloping
cobbled street in the poorest part of the town.

Update: Maybe there are some kind Swedish speakers here who can translate the movie?

Thanks, ferdi111. As this film doesn't show up on search [except for THIS thread ;) ], it's obvious [to me, at least] that it's one of the movies that were lost in translation, possibly the FIRST time back in 2004.

I got my file [that's stored on one of the storage DVD's that I used BEFORE they started putting out external HD's at reasonable prices..] from here WAAAAY back when..

It has been dubbed for the English speakers as "Brenda Brave" and released on DVD.
I don't have it but if you are interested then you can get it from Amaz**.com Marketplace for a few cents

Update: Finnish subs at Opensubtitles seems to be for some shortened version of the movie (they begin with the scene where grandmother invites Kajsa to drink juice (in 1:50 mark in file presented here) and probably there are missing parts in other places as well.

Found from youtube two different copies of it in German - one of it with quite noisy audio

It seems that German version of the movie is a little bit shorter than Swedish one

But maybe somebody can transcribe German dialog?
Then it is possible to make srt from it.

[Did anyone catch the blink-and-you'll-miss-her cameo by Inger Nilsson, AKA Pippi Långstrump?]

Ow, my ears!!! You're not kidding. That video-recording of a 16mm projection is LOUD. But the second video has quite good video and audio. I ripped the auto-generated German subtitle but it is not quite so pretty. That I am putting off dealing with for later.

But for now, how about an English translation of the Uloz Swedish subtitles from the Swedish video? I defy anyone who insists that I have to actually know Swedish in order to do corrections to a Google translate. It just takes time and a little research. I had so much fun working on the Madicken subtitles I just can't give it up. Check it out, see if you approve.

One of those youtube recordings is without that 16mm camera noise and because of that I said it...
I compared German and Swedish version and it seems that German one is missing 01:50 from beginning
and then some without words scenes from here and there

About the move: Adrians singing was [censored] painful to hear if you aren't musically deaf himself

Yes, the second YouTube link is quite good and the German dub well-done. The first scene in the Swedish version introduces the boy Adrian, but that is axed in the German. I wish they had cut his terrible song later instead! And it seems the Inger Nilsson cameo is also cut from the German version! It was a pointless scene, but still ...
