OK, I compared the two files.

lb's version contains one additional sub (in bold):
51
00:19:28,954 --> 00:19:29,416
Mama?

52
00:19:30,189 --> 00:19:30,705
Yes?

53
00:25:58,552 --> 00:19:34,457
I want to ask you something, but
you have to answer me honestly.

54
00:19:35,773 --> 00:19:37,332
Well, that depends on the question.

14-year-old Dawn Dunlap is truly stunning in this movie! I only wish there was some way to digitally remove the Hamilton haze. :mrgreen:

Here is the full French DVD.

Here are direct links for those who prefer that method or can't use eMule for whatever reason. All I ask is that if you're able to use eMule, please move the file to your shared folder and seed for a while. Every source helps.

I think something got squirted on his lenses. I'm no fan of "artsy" effects that intentionally blur a crisp clear picture, especially when showing cuties like these.

I bet Ghost can do his magic here to help.

It would take some pretty high level processing to remove the haze. I won't say it's impossible, you can do amazing things with video these days, but simply sharpening the image isn't enough.

Your best bet would be the original footage - if the negative is free of the haze and it was added to the finished print. I don't how the effect was done. Of course you'd have to acquire the rights to the film to get those negatives.

The "haze" is Hamiltons special style. I guess even with the rights to the movie you would not be allowed to destroy a piece of art. European countries are strangely very sensitive about this ;) ...

You're right, deadman. This kind of "bluring" effect can't be removed, because you don't have sharp edges in the picture.

I worked on the DVD some months ago. This is all I could do:

Legally speaking if you bought the rights to the movie, you could issue a re-release, extended cut (remember you get all the original raw footage), 4K blu-ray edition, or whatever else you wanted to do with it. The old rightsholders no longer have a say in the matter.

I don't know exactly how much it would cost you. We're probably talking several hundred thousand US dollars even for an obscure indie film with limited annual sales - how much a movie earns every year from various sources determines what the property is worth. No clue how many DVDs they sell or how often this film airs on cable networks around the world. I recall they used to show it on Cinemax after midnight in the late 80's and early 90's but I haven't seen it on American TV in a long time.
