You can get eMule here:

Once installed you can select 15+ downloads at once, in installation preferences.

Once running you can press the "Connect" Tab.

Once connected to a server you can click on an eMule link.

For eMule to work effectively ~40+ downloads at once can be selected. You can then configure eMule via options to decide how much bandwidth it uses.

Rich, please don't advise newbies to use the standard eMule client.
Though it's easier to handle, it also sucks big time.

The point to start is, IMHO, eMulePlus.

Best place for a newbie to start is the unmodded version, but that's just my opinion

Naaaah! You can see who is on queue by right-clicking on the title of the upload queue.. (you can see all know clients too)

By friend slot, you mean "add to friend list" (right click on username)? This option will give them "friend slot" each time they sucks from you.

eMulePlus's friend slot does not work in the same way as in eMule.
With eMule you can give a friend 100MB at a time, which IMO is unfair to the rest of the clients waiting, and also allows you to have only one such slot active at a time (not so hot if you have several friends queued up).
With eMulePlus, friends are given a 2x boost in their score, which means they get their turns quicker (less waiting) and get put back in the queue after about 10MB, so someone else (usually another friend) can get a chance to download.
