Hmmm...stuff disappearing?

When researching for Weiner Dog Nationals I came accross one of my older posts, I noticed there were large blank spaces where something used to be https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... f=3&t=9853. When i click edit, it shows there was supposed to be youtube trailers. I thought maybe it was just me.

But in looking up an actress from one of the new shorts, I noticed the same happened to PTG's posts - https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... lit=marlin / https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... Scislowski

I'm not seeing blank spaces in these threads. I am seeing YouTube and Vimeo vids. You might want to try clearing your cache and deleting cookies.

Ok, I closed everything and ran CCleaner. I have also tried two different browsers. No dice. ??? On the ones I mentioned there are huge blanks and no youtube. But I went to the MV section Open Kids and ALL the youtubes come up fine, so...... :?:

Is anyone else having this problem with the posts above? What am I doing wrong were some youtubes show up and others don't?

Thx for the help :D

Update: Just went to https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... =74&t=9359 and all the vids gone. Then went to the new ones like Mack Z and al vids are up and working....WTF :?: Do you think youtube has killed the embed or changed them for all of the old posts? Or could this be an adobe thing?

Just went there and the vids are there for me. Are you using Firefox? Do you use add-ons like Flashblock and NoScript? If you go to a post that has a vid and click the "quote" button, do you see the code in it for the vid? It looks like the blockage is on your side, not the board's.

I am using Opera and Explorer. Both give me this. Only with old posts like before july. Those are the two browsers. Again, I show everything new, not before july. :?:

Thanks again for helping

Yes Phuzz, on quote I see the embed is there. I am glad this is just on my side and not the board. Being as this is both of my browsers, and to my knowledge I have not changed any security, all I can think know is it is an adobe or flash thing? I'll keep working on it, maybe someone has an idea.

Thanks for the help.

Somebody had this problem b4 which is why I started always using https in the embed instead of http. But I thought it was a browser issue.

Deffin the http thing. I just posted https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... =74&t=9790 and the new youtbe worked but the old posts did not show. I edited the old post to https and I can now see them.

First, stop using IE. It's a virus sponge and/or the worst piece of crap software written EVER. Microsoft puts out updates every month, and there hasn't been a single month SINCE 1991 without an IE update. If MS hasn't actually fixed it by now, they never intended to, and that's all you need to know about Microshaft.

If you use add-ons/plugins in Opera, disable all of them and try again. Check your firewall rules. Check flash, java, antivirus, malware protection, yada yada. Especially pay attention to anything you've changed/added/deleted since the time everything was working.

Check your HOSTS file (%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS. You may have to change Windows Explorer to show hidden files. The HOSTS file has no extension. It's used to bypass a DNS address and substitute an IP address for a web site. This can be useful, for instance, if you don't want a program to phone home - you can substitute 127.0.0.1 (your PC's alias address) for where DNS would have sent it. Some malware changes HOSTS to try to send you to another site. If you see youtube.com in HOSTS, delete that entire line and save the file, then try again.

There are other things you can try, like use a portable version of a different browser to see if the problem's in the browser or somewhere else in the system. Good luck, Mr. Holmes. ;)

This has been discussed before :icon_old

http embeds are not allowed on https pages for security reasons. I think Firefox was the first browser that blocked them, but other browsers followed.

:D  Thanks guys! I know that I did just upgrade to Opera 9 and I NEVER use IE, its just the only other browser I had currently on my computer to compare. But if Phuzzy is still seeing them then http must still work here. I'll try firefox. I use to only use that browser but I like the layout of Opera.

Thanks again for all the help :D I'll figure it out. Just glad its only on my end!
